This board game is designed to prevent young people from starting to use tobacco. Starts with a story about a large rabbit who invents a new and extremely dangerous product, Rabbit Pills. Players compare the bad effects of Rabbit Pills with tobacco. While the production of Rabbit Pills is less dangerous than tobacco, a company still wants to make money producing the dangerous product.
As they play the game, students learn about the dangers of tobacco use, including numerous facts about tobacco, such as the deadly diseases it causes. The game also addresses the physical side of tobacco use, such as bad breath, discolored teeth, reduction of athletic ability, and other negative effects on health.
The post-game discussion, as outlined in the teacher's booklet, links the game with real life and helps students to further internalize their conclusions about the dangers of tobacco use.
Kids learn critical thinking skills by evaluating events in the game and drawing valid conclusions. Suitable for Grades 3-5. 2008.
