Job Survival and Success Scale

Job Survival and Success Scale (JSSS) (2nd Edition)

By John J. Liptak, Ed.D.
Measures the job survival and success skills that employers want most. According to recent research by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, employers seek soft job-retention skills more than job-related knowledge. These skills include:

  • dependability
  • responsibility
  • human relations
  • ethical behavior
  • getting ahead
Taking just 20 minutes, respondents to rate themselves on 60 statements divided into five sections: dependability, responsibility, human relations, ethical behavior, and getting ahead. The JSSS is self-scoring and self-interpreting. It includes suggestions with check boxes for job success, and provides writing space for "My Success Plan."
The JSSS is helpful for people with and without work experience, including those currently employed, people who want to get promoted, those who feel stuck in a job, and people who have problems succeeding in and keeping jobs.
It also helps educators, counselors, trainers, and other professionals to provide more focused job retention training and instruction.
